  1. Keith, what about Autosport’s Jon Noble and his NobleF1?

    1. Added – thanks for the tip.

      1. and claire williams has changed her account to-

  2. Thanks for the heads up on those, I’m now following a good chunk of them ;)

  3. Keith, is that the real vettel? This twitter vettel sounds to me more like a school boy.

    1. Seems a bit weird to me, too. I noticed he likes using a lot of exclamation points in his tweets. Been following him already, though I’m still awaiting for a solid confirmation it’s really him. Maybe the Red Bull F1 Spy can confirm this?

      1. Vettel hasn’t been verified. He’s also using a pic from his Torro Rosso days, doesn’t tally I’m afraid for me just yet, looks like a fake. Red Bull nor Sebastian Vettel have come out and said he has one, and until they do I’m taking it as a fake.

        1. It’s a bit odd indeed, but a set of replies to Button’s Twitter seems to indicate that it is real. Check a little lower on that page: it seems as if JB was also a bit suspicious about this as well. (JB’s profile was confirmed by Rubens and, as far as I know, the team as well…)

          1. Brawn/Button/Barrichello twitter accounts are from the Brawn website, so that’s a confirmation in itself I suppose…anyways I am looking forward for some of the accounts to be “Verified” by Twitter themselves…

    2. His tweets are getting odder by the tweet! Maybe he’s more excitable than we think.

    3. Vettel isn’t officially on twitter. Must be a fake otherwise we would of heard more about it!

  4. Oh i got the above list from official websites etc so they are all verified in my book.

  5. http://twitter.com/VisionRacing

    Vision racing from the IRL.

There are tons of IRL drivers and media on Twitter. They’re all very active too!

    1. Keith,
Your link to Sarah Fisher isn’t working. You left the “H” off of her name.

      The link is:

      1. Fixed it, thanks.

  6. Thanks for the links guys have updated the list. Have marked the Vettel one to be confirmed. For media I’m going to stick to just listing journalists – if I put every single F1 site in there the list would quickly become enormous!

  7. The Massa twitter is not really his, it was made by his friends so that people could send messages of support

  8. Have removed the Vettel one which turned out not to be him. Pity.

  9. Hey Keith

There is Steve Slater as (steveslaterf1) Alex Yoong as (alextoong)

  10. So the Vettel one is definitely fake? Had big suspicions, but someone has checked with the real Seb?

    1. Yeah, it’s most likely fake. Got an email from the redbullracing.com saying: “…beware of some of those Twitters which claim to really be from young German drivers.”

  11. Do you know of NanoAlonso is the right one??

  12. Forza_Felipe is a tribute Twitter to Felipe Massa, not his own Twitter page.

    1. True, but Twitter lists it as a verified account for him.

  13. Anyone know if @NandoAlonso is fake?

    1. Seems fake! He does not interact with the the verified Nelson Piquet twitter account but rather nelsonpiquetjr2, he also prefers Sebas_Vettel (who is making sweeping statements against Briatore And Symonds) It is a fake!

    1. That didn’t work as planned…

What I meant to say was http://twitter.com/fake_hamilton is obviously fake, but very funny!

  14. Also our GP2 team: http://twitter.com/oceanracingtech

The tweets are in portuguese though.

    1. Thanks Ruben, added to the list.

  15. @nicorosberg is also on Twitter. I think that is him and it is interesting to follow him as his nutritionist (Robin Lindsay – @robinlinds ) is posting updates on his account during races – mainly what she hears on team radio…

  16. It looks like Ted Kravitz has joined now too, but no official confirmation yet:

    1. Don’t think it is Keith. His knowledge on Twitter isn’t up to his usual, sharp, self.

      1. That one’s in the ‘maybe’ pile too.

  17. New F1 driver added

Nico Rosberg is now on the list:

The account appears to have been started for the purposes of running a competition, but hopefully we’ll start to see some proper Tweets from Rosberg himself too.

    1. Jacob Molenkamp
      10th October 2009, 9:30

I follow that NicoRosberg16 as well but thought this is done by Philips Brasil for the upcoming GP only.

      Further I follow http://twitter.com/Mansell5

which I did not see in your directory.

      1. They’ve done a few non-competition related Tweets, let’s see if they do any proper Twitter stuff once the content is over.

I’ve had a look at the Mansell one before but I haven’t seen any indication it’s genuine. Have you?

        1. Jacob Molenkamp
          10th October 2009, 13:47

I don’t know either if the Mansell one is genuine, their haven’t been any tweets since August but it has a lot of followers

  18. What about @Kimi_Raikkonen (http://twitter.com/Kimi_Raikkonen)? Is it real? He’s got 12,166 subscribers including Nico Rosberg.

    1. I’ve had a look and I can’t see any indication it’s real.

  19. Twitter is ideal for Mansell and Raikkonen – at least you don’t have to listen to them…

Usually worth a listen, in my opinion, is@MauriceHamilton – have you come across him yet?

    1. Thanks, added him!

  20. Hi there,

just to say that the Ivan Capelli you placed isn’t the real one. It’s actually a Brazilian journalist, ho happens to have the same name…

    Quite a coincidence, hen?

    1. And he uses an avatar that looks like Capelli in the Leyton House!

Oh well, I’ll strike him from the list.

  21. Keith,

    F1 media

    Felipe Motta – Radio Panamericana
Luis Fernando Ramos – Racing Magazine
Tatiana Cunha – Folha de Sao Paulo

  22. Some MotoGP drivers:

    Jorge Lorenzo – @lorenzo99
    Ben Spies – @BenSpies11
    Bradley Smith (125cc) – @BradleySmith38

    1. Sort of related: Mike Conway. Seems legit, he has interacted with Tomas Scheckter. Worth an add?

      1. Thanks Spiffy have added it.

    1. Non-F1 racing drivers

      Ana Beatriz Bia

“Just to remember that now I am @biaracing here at twitter”

  23. Hi Keith,

    Some suspects to check:

    Jacque Villeneuve: @27villeneuve
    Robert Kubica: @fakeRobKubica

    Martin Brundle: @fakeMartinB (funny!)
    Eddie Jordan: @fakeEJ
    David Coulthard: @fakeDC
    Flavio: @fakeflav

    Funny, but I think fake:

    Cheers from Holland,

  24. ex Ensign F1 driver, ex Top Gear presenter, ex 5th Gear presenter – Tiff Needell

Not verified as yet but I’ve been following for a while and seems reasonable that it realy is him, whadayathink?

  25. Epic fail on last post, lets try again

    1. Thanks Damian, added.

  26. Toby Fernandes :L

  27. You know the driver accounts that start with the word ‘fake’, they are… FAKE! They don’t pretend to be real and are often pretty funny.

  28. Martin Whitmarsh seems to have started tweeting too, his photo is classic!

  29. Hi here’s a driver you could add to your directory. 2003 Le Mans winner Guy Smith @GUYSMITH16 Now driving with Dyson Racing In the ALMS.

  30. A few IRL teams and drivers you don’t have listed are on Twitter as well. I think you could actually make a seperate IRL listing because almost every driver on the grid uses Twitter…I’ll only post the most interesting ones though.

    1. Great stuff – all added. The Indy Car guys are really good for this.

  31. i think the Mercedes GP link is still directed to the Brawn one. Try http://twitter.com/OfficialMGP

  32. Jonathan Legard: http://twitter.com/legardj

Confirmed by the guys from 5Live F1.

  33. Williams F1: http://twitter.com/ClaireVWilliams/

As listed on the official Williams F1 website

  34. @hollysamos seems a goner? found @hopintung but he seems lazy. anyone in Valencia give him a shout please?

    1. I think Holly Samos is on maternity leave, would explain the radio silence.

  35. Felipe, told us in his on-line chat, at Ferrari, that he does not have a twitter account! :)

    1. Seems he’s not actually going to use the account that was set up for him, which is a pity. I’m taking it off the list, it hasn’t been updated by November:

If he’s not actually using it, it shouldn’t be a “Verified” account really.

      1. It was used, though, during the karting event last December. I think it’s actually his manager or brother who was posting on it.

Felipe could be making better use of it, really.

  36. what about indian journalist Raja Sen at @rajasen? witty, powerful f1 commentary.. even though he mostly writes about films and other stuff, his #f1 tweets are the stuff of legend, especially when he livetweets a race.

    1. Interesting suggestion – I’ll follow him for a bit and then decide, don’t want to recommend him if he’s not doing much F1 stuff.

  37. Hey Keith – I’ve set up a Twitter list, with most of the F1 related people above. You can subscribe to this so you don’t have to click through all of the links above, and still get all the tweets. Click here: http://twitter.com/#/list/40_thieves/f1

  38. Lewis Hamilton on Twitter. Looks genuine going by the Twitpic pictures of Lewis and his brother Nic. http://twitter.com/LewisHamiltonF1

Holly Samos link does not appear to be working! “Sorry, that page doesnt exist!” error message.

    Not got @5liveF1 listed!

    1. Doesn’t look very real to me. Appalling grammar and spelling as well (I know he’s not William Wordsworth but still) and random snaps…

    2. Looks fake. Perhaps we should have a list of known fakes as well to stop people getting confused?

  39. Almost F1 Driver Perry Mcarthy, his book is well worth a read as well.

  40. Hi Keith,

Just read a blog post from Joe Saward (http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/the-return-of-team-lotus/) where he mentions (2nd paragraph) that Mike Gascoyne is also using twitter.

I searched it and came out with http://twitter.com/MikeGascoyne

BTW, brilliant live coverage from Jerez :-)

    1. Cheers Antonio, added him to the list.

  41. It looks like the Lotus Twitter account you have listed doesnt work. A quick check of the Lotus Racing website says their Twitter account is @MyLotusRacing.

    1. Fixed, thanks xintelinsanex.

  42. @Kimi_Raikkonen is a fake account

  43. Hi Keith,

Just a note about Nico Rosberg’s twittwer account, which in fact was created for “a promotion from Philips Consumer Lifestyle Brazil”. At least that’s what it says in the last tweet made, back in October, at the time of the Brazilian GP. ;-)

  44. Hi Keith,

How about @sschaumloeffel ? She appears to be the Lotus F1 team press officer. I.e this cracker of a tweet: http://twitter.com/sschaumloeffel/status/9228062966

  45. http://twitter.com/OfficialMercedesGP doesn’t seem to exist…
Even @jakehumphreyF1 doesn’t seem to know what the real one is though. @MGP doesn’t look right…

  46. Another non F1 driver for the list – http://twitter.com/augustofarfus
    Augusto Farfus (WTCC).
(linked to on his official website)

  47. Mark Webber is now on Twitter — @AussieGrit

    1. Am trying to find out if it’s real. Can anyone offer and proof?

      1. Have contacted a chap within the team to inquire. Shall let you know.

        1. Confirmed.

Strange, of all the drivers, I thought Webber would be the least likely to join Twitter!

      2. @redbullf1spy has confirmed the identity @AussieGrit and it is indeed Webbo!

  48. Hi Keith

I noticed you weren’t sure about @tedkravitz. He is real, I had confirmation from @5livef1 a while ago, and I think another of the BBC team confirmed it recently.

    Sarah (@soggous)

    1. Thought I’d added him a while ago – will fix that now.

  49. Hi Keith,

Lee McKenzie changed her twitter username so the link you have no longer goes to her page.

    She’s now http://twitter.com/LeeMcKenzieF1

    1. Changed, thanks Kate.

  50. Renger van der Zande is on Twitter, @Rengerzzz

    confirmed by Lee McKenzie

    1. Thanks CC, he’s on the list now.

  51. Justin Wilson changed his account to @JustinWilson22

    1. Wish people would stop doing that! Updated.

  52. Good evening Keith! http://twitter.com/realTimoGlock

I think it is the real Timo Glock, because he post same stuff on his official FB as show up as tweets on twitter.

    1. Thanks for the tip I’ll have a look.

    2. Yep looks like it is him!

  53. hey!!

what about the cool and good kart driver Brad Brunner http://www.twitter.com/bracula ?

    1. Can you delete this post? I am not exactly on the field like the others.

  54. Hi! Keith and everyone, just saw this on BBC Sport F1 Live Bahrain GP qualifying… http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8564532.stm

It has a post from Fernando Alonso on twitter @NandoAlonso http://twitter.com/NandoAlonso

    1. I don’t see anything on that page linking to that account, and I don’t see any other indication that account may be genuine.

  55. Jarred Walmsley
    25th March 2010, 4:44

You might want to either remove or shift USF1 to the old teams list

    1. True, but they are still officially entered in this year’s championship and they may yet have something to say via their Twitter account so I’ll leave it on there in the meantime.

      1. Jarred Walmsley
        25th March 2010, 8:27

Fair enough, giving them a bit more benefit of the doubt then I personally would give them but what you said makes perfect sense. Do StefanGP have an account?

        1. In their death throes the only place we heard from USF1 was on Twitter.

I’m not aware Stefan GP has an account and last time I looked their website wasn’t there either.

  56. I would like to suggest that you add former A1GP champion and Swiss driver Neel Jani ( @neeljani ) to the directory too , under non-f1 racing drivers. And Also former Jordan/ Williams driver Narain Karthikeyan (now racing in NASCAR Trucks) is also there ( @narainracing )

    1. Added them, thanks cholle.
